Turns out I was borderline on my glucose test, so i had to go in for the 3 hour test. I have been calling to see if they had the results yet and every time they say they will call me back the next day, but they never do. So i am just waiting for an answer as to what to do about the situation. I would transfer to the civilian general hospital, but my insurance wont let me because i am active duty.
Did you have a test done for gestational diabetes? It sounds like it's low blood sugar, to me. When you feel like this try sitting down, and drinking a glass of OJ, or eating a candy bar or something with lots of sugar. Make sure to follow it up with a complex carb. You can google a whole list of foods that are complex carbs. If you feel better within about 15 min, I would say it's low blood sugar. On the high bp note: you don't want to mess around with that! If you have an automatic bp cuff you could use that would be great. Take it a couple of times throughout the day. I'm sorry your Dr. is being a snot! Hope the next Doc you see is better than this one!!
You need to speak to officer in charge of your ob unit. If you are having issues with your pregnancy that doctor has no right to tell you it's "not fair to the men" While those things you mentioned could indicate high blood pressure, it doesn't necessarily. How has your BP been when they've checked you?
If you have an air force hospital near you, you can check into transferring your care to that facility.
I know that sometimes i get headaches, light headed and one day at work I almost fainted, I went to the docs and he said I have low blood pressure and that is why i get light headed and dizzy. He also said that it is normal for pregnant women to have low blood pressure and to just keep things in check and sit down when you feel dizzy. Hope this helps!
I hope so....that stinks. You shouldn't have to go through that and I REALLY hope that the next doctor treats you with some respect. Good luck I hope they can figure something out to help you.
I dont get a set doctor, because the staff is undermanned, so i get a different doctor every time. That doctor is retired navy, and he is very descriminating at every appointment i have with him. My husband actually came with me and told him how he felt and made a ruckus pretty much, and the doctor finally gave me 1/2 days. I requested a different doctor for my next appointment that alot of ladies at work like, so hopefully he is a little more understanding.
OMG it's "not fair to the men"???? You have a little life inside of you that DEPENDS on your ability to care for yourself....I would complain to his superior that's out of line and to me it sounds like discrimination. That being said....it could be high BP. have they tested your BP when you come in? It could just be hormones....I have very bad headaches with this pregnancy (I had them before being pregnant, but they went away when I was pregnant with my daughter and then came back after she was born...they've continued with this pregnancy) but my BP is ideal, even low. Can you request another doctor with the facility? that's ridiculous you shouldn't be pushed aside. if there's really nothing they can do that's one thing....but those men can absolutely pick up the slack if it means the health of your unborn child.
