Preacclampsia

Hi all.
Not a question. More some advice.
I am currently in hospital recovering from an emergency c section. My beautiful girl was born 7 weeks early on 25th April at 1:14 AM weighing just 2 pound 10. I came in for a scan on 22nd April just to check the position on my placenta as it was showing as low lying at 20 weeks. There was no issue with the functioning of my placenta.
When I came in for the scan on Wednesday they said she was small and not growing properly. Worried out of my mind they said to come back Friday which I did to be told I have preacclampsia and I would need an emergency c section that night.  Willow  is doing fabulous now and I am so happy she is out and being looked after so well! I had very few symptoms. Headaches which I put down to pregnancy hormones and reduced movements which I put down to the baby getting bigger. I also had a few spots like stars which would look like they are shooting towards me but I never thought anything of it! Please ladies. If you notice any change especially with movements or notice a different in yourself then please contact your midwife ASAP. I was lucky and I was told that if it hadn't been picked up at the scan she wouldn't have made it which makes me feel sick now even though she's ok. No problem is ever too small! Xx

Your welcome. Yes, it's the worst feeling. When it happened to me I didnt have everything she needed ready at home, so i spent my time getting her room ready and visited her every day in the Nicu. Hopefully your little one puts on some weight fast! Im praying for you and your daughter.

Thank you for the kind message. Went up and saw her today and she's doing so well! Really hope the time flies and she is out soon. It's horrible being home not pregnant and without baby!

I hope you have a fast recovery and your baby girl gets to come home to you soon. Reading your story sounds exactly like my pregnancy with my daughter who is now 2 yrs old. She was measuring 3 weeks behind and went in for an appointment the next week and was told i had a severe case of pre-eclampsia. My blood pressure was through the roof and they were suprised i didnt have a seizure. I was 33 weeks 4 days, had my emergency c section the next morning and she weighed 3 pounds 1 ounce. I had to stay in the hospital for a week to get my blood pressure under control and my daughter stayed in the nicu for a month to gain weight and learn to eat.

I went up to see my midwife on saturday and got told I had blood and protein in my urine. They tryed to pass it off at an infection but I think I am getting symptoms of pre eclampsia. I've been getting migraines that won't go away, feeling nausus, out of breath, seeing dots infront of my eyes, dizzy spells, pains in my legs and back and now a little swelling. I am 33 weeks pregnant and blood pressure still low. What do you think? Should I keep at them?

I found out when I was 33 plus 1 (which was Friday 24th April, my C section was at 1 AM on Saturday 25th April). I had previous tests with the midwife and never had any protein in my urine until my appointment on Friday. I had a severe case which had caused my daughter to stop growing as well (I am a ftm). Most cases are not so severe and are treatable. I hope all goes well for you. Swelling is a common symptom but like I say my symptoms were very mild!

When did you find out that you have preclampsia? I just had to get lab work for it cause I've been having bad headaches, high blood pressure, some weight gain and bad circulation in my legs. I'm currently 25 weeks with my first daughter.
