I'm loosing weight?!?! :(

My boss walked by me today and she said "You are loosing weight! You look skinnier"  Now I'm a skinny person but i'm 5 1/2 weeks pregnant, I should be gaining weight right?
I'm not bloated or swollen, my boobs are definitely getting bigger and they hurt, but I don't have any other symptoms, I don't have cramps, I don't have any morning sickness and I don't have acid burn or anything.  I don't have much of an appetite however, I do get hungry but I'm never really in the mood to eat.

Should I be worried that I'm loosing weight, I don't want to loose weight but I guess I may be?!?  When should I expect to be getting the full rainbow of symptoms?

I know a lot of women lose weight during the first trimester due to m/s so they don't worry too much about it.  But I know for me, I got m/s starting at 6 weeks (didn't feel anything up until then, besides some cramping and sore bb's) and at about 15 weeks it stopped and that's when I wanted to eat everything in sight!  My friend's sister was the same way, because feeling nausea or sickness all the time you really can't eat much so once it's gone your piggin out!  I also started to show around 16 weeks but to a stranger just looked fat, LOL. At 20 weeks or so was to the point where people would ask me if I was pregnant and now I'm 29 weeks and there's no denying it!  Just relax and enjoy NOT having the m/s.  I know that as much as I hated it, I would get all freaked out when it would go away - but it would always come back :)  Even now I sometimes get a sick feeling - but I mainly struggle with heartburn and acid reflux now.

I lost weight through both trimesters. I was a bigger girl to start i just popped in the last 2 weeks and i am 29 weeks along. Stress over being pregnant can also affect your weight.... Plus you may look like your losing weight but it may be just shifting....

g8r grl- I'm going to Nassau to Cable beach for my friend's destination wedding.  I'm not that excited but I gotta go.

danielleacor- I don't know where I'm loosing weight but my butt feels smaller, my belly bigger (only 5 1/2 weeeks!) and calfs just as big as ever, maybe my arms seem smaller.  I dont know its weird.  Still not sick!

k1990- I hope I am THAT lucky but I am really looking forward to having full blown symptoms, for some reason to me having awful symptoms are reassuring that the pregnancy is going ok, I had a m/c in June and I don't really want to think about it this time but its in the back of my head always.

This is so funny that you posted this. My co worker came up to me, and said "you're loosing weight" Like 10 pounds in the last week or 2. No way!!! my pants are tighter in the tummy area. And i certainly dont feel like i'm loosing weight, but she said that it's in my legs, arms, and face.
Have you gotten on the scale? I think i'm going to tonight just to confirm. It's normal to loose weight in the beginning, but i thought that was only with women that have severe morning sickness. Oh well. I feel good  and that's all the matters. :o)

People I know really well see it but if not, you'd think I looked kinda chunky...in the tummy area...I had very strong abdominal muscles so I am convinced that is it.  I didn't really show until week 16...then 18 I kind of popped a bit more and now most people know.  My class didn't know until today...I kept trying to make sure that this baby was a keeper before I went telling 21 eight year olds that I was pregnant...I couldn't imagine having to take that news back if I had a miscarriage like last time!!!  So, I kept waiting and waiting and waiting lol  Someone told me this morning there was no hiding it any more.  I've gained like 12 pounds so far...and 2 pounds were in the last week!  But the week before I gained .5 so it all evens out in the end.  I was exercising too and I stopped because I have a low lying placenta...not as bad as previa but they told me to take it easy.

Wao Sweetangel7 people can't tell you are pregnant at 20 weeks?!  I think I'll be showing early if I make it.

LauraB-  I thought I made up the lost weight This weekend on Thanksgiving :P

Tarobinc-  I hope that's my case, I don't really care for gaining weight on my butt and thighs :)  I want only belly weight.

It was probably that bug you had...a lot of women lose weight...completely normal as long as you are not doing any crazy diet and TRYING to lose...noone could tell I was pregnant forever...I am now 20 weeks and I told someone today and their jaw dropped open!  They didn't even know I was pregnant!

A LOT of people lose weight in the first trimester~ =)

No worries.. Plus you just had that stomach bug so that likely didn't help. Don't you have an appointment this week with your midiwfe? I would definitely mention it to her, but I think you are ok, try not to stress.. I know, impossible!

The same thing happened to me.  I have gained only baby weight but my friends, co-workers and family all say I look like I lost weight in my face and other areas.  I feel as if my body re-positioned itself.

I had morning sickness (nausea only) from just about the beginning but it subsided around 18 weeks or so.

Good luck!!!!!

Thank you.  I am looking forward to feeling pregnant. Except the weekend of Dec. 12th when I'm supossed to go to my best friend's wedding in the Bahamas....which will be when I'm around 7 weeks prime time for getting sick right? I'm sure that'll be just my luck.

I just don't understand why I'd be loosing weight. I feel fine and I eat but without much enthusiasm.  I am soooo tired though.

Its okay to lose weight in the first trimester. I lost 15 pounds due to HG (hyperemesis gravidarum - severe morning sickness) but gained it back & then some in the 3rd trimester. I had a very healthy and happy 11 pound baby boy!! No worries at this stage. Eat what you can, drink tons of water, and everything will be just fine. :)

By the way... I felt fine and then suddenly woke up with morning sickness in the middle of my 6th week. Some don't get it until later, some not at all. We're all different!! But you will probably be feeling MUCH more pregnant in the next couple weeks.
