My side....

Okay induction has been a huge discussion on here lately here's my stance. You should not be induced unless it's medically advisable. I have been through induction, with my first son, he quit growing so they induced me. Then with my second son I had him 3 almost 4 weeks early. Both my sons had a lot of breathing problems and induction is not this God send that ends your pregnancy and allows you to meet your child. There are complications that come along with it and one is if it's not in the medical interest for your child you are risk your child's development being curbed because you want your baby early.  This is my third pregnancy in four years, I hate pregnancy and I am super uncomfortable already, with every pregnancy I have preterm labor, with this one I am having kidney problems and sciatica when I hit full term I will be so beyond ready for this little one to be here but until he decides to come or it is medically needed for him to come I will keep him in for as long as I can so he can have the chance to prepare himself and develop to where him and God decides he needs to be. I've been through scary experiences with my kids, my first son had some breathing problems and my second some was in the nicu nearly three weeks. Believe me unless you really have a legit reason to be induced not just because you're uncomfortable and over being pregnant please give that baby the chance to come when they are ready. I wouldn't wish any parent to have to have a child in nicu it's terrifying and even though a lot can go through induction with no adverse effects that doesn't mean it can't or won't happen

See I'm really glad that you all can see my point too and I agree too big if a baby can be a problem for both mother and baby, my sons have always been small only 5 and 6 pounds

I've never had a Dr that was willing to induce or even talked about it. My last pregnancy I was in tears because I was tired of being preggo lol. He still wouldn't.  He said he doesn't induce until women are 42 weeks as long as there's no obvious medical reason to do so. I ended up having my baby at 42 weeks. He was the biggest baby I've ever had almost 8lbs. My other 2 boys weighed a little over 5 lbs when I had them.

I was induced with both my girls. First time I had preterm and ended up being placed on bedrest with pills to stop the contractions, I was induced at 39weeks. Second time different Dr. I had constant blackout spells my entire pregnancy my Dr induced at what he thought was 39weeks but he had my dates wrong and my baby was really 40+ weeks. I'm seeing a different Dr with this one and I just just told that he tends to induce at 39weeks, I'm currently 36+6 he hasn't mentioned anything to me so it's just the waiting game

I agree. I've been induced with all three of my previous pregnancies but not by choice. First time I was overdue had been dilated 2cm for two weeks and baby hadn't grown in one week. The other two were at 38 and 39 wks to prevent the babies from getting too big to deliver. And yes that is a medical reason even though some do not believe it. Some women's bodys just aren't big enough to deliver a large baby and a vaginal birth is always better for the baby than a Csection when possible. If I could have waited I would have even though none of mine suffered complications from the inductions. My next baby unfortunately will be Csection bc even if we induced early by the history of how my babies get bigger with each pregnancy I'll not be able to deliver this one.

After 41 weeks yea by all means you need help having the baby and like 38 and 39 weeks I can even understand to an extent but I know how big just a few extra weeks can make, my son would have more of a chance for the hole in his lung to heal if he would have had just a little longer

My dr doesn't give u a choice .. after u hit a certain amount of weeks he tries different things.. if that doesn't wrk by 41 weeks he automatically induces due to risk of infection from baby having bowel movement in utero.. no questions asked.. I don't agree with inducing early unless medically necessary but I believe my dr is a dr for a reason n has been delivering babies way longer than I have been able to have thm and he knows wats best.. I want my baby to stay as long as possible but if it comes down to it thn I will do it for my baby

I'm not saying people are selfish and I don't want anyone mad I'm just saying that I get the discomfort I sympathize I really do but it seems like so many people are being induction happy and want to jump the gun. Drs usually won't induce unless medically needed or you're far enough along as in 39 weeks or further. The moms trying to induce 35 and 37 weeks it's just not worth it I promise it's really not

I agree with you entirely. To be induced because you don't want your baby to grow any longer, because of your own discomfort is selfish.
