Pregnancy

I am 40yrs old. I had a miss-carriage December 2010. I still want to have a child. Are my chances riskier because of the miss-carriage? Want a child

Personally given your age, I wouldn't wait 6 months.  Especially given that you had a m/c.  If you want a baby I would talk to a reproductive endocrinologist.  They will do a full blood workup and check hormone levels.  You might need help concieveing, you might not but it's good to have a consult.

I am 42, I had a miscarriage Oct last year. THAT had nothing to do with my age, I had a IUD taken out which left the lining of my uterus thin. I wasn't meant to fall pregnant the same month I had the IUD taken out. I am now 5w 5d and just had my first bloods drawn, I get the results today. I agree with Clysta, give it 6 months. I gave up trying for a baby, so this one was a shock! I wish you all the best :)

The miscarriage itself doesn't have a bearing on future pregnancies, nor means others would be at risk. The real concern would be your age. Women from age 35-45 have a 20-35% chance of miscarriage and fertility issue. After you turn 30 your odds of conception decrease each year. That's not to say it won't happen at all. Many hundreds of thousands of women get pregnant every year. If you can't get pregnant within 6 months, see a doctor for an evaluation. Good luck.

Because of your age (no offense) the chance of miscarriage is higher. That doesnt mean you cant successfully carry a baby to term, it just might be a little more difficult. I would talk more with my doctor about what are the chances of miscarriage again.
