Pumping breast milk exclusively

Does any one on here pump exclusively? My little girl is 4 days old and not latching on my breast, so yesterday I just started pumping only and she took to the bottle instantly. I was just wondering if anyone else does this only and how is your milk supply? I'd like to bf till 6 months but I'm worried ill run out of milk!

Thanks everyone :) I've been pumping every two hours and keeping up with her demand so far! I just hope to not run out or loose my milk supply. I've been drinking lots of water and eating the best I can with a newborn lol.

I nursed normally but one of my best friends pumped exclusively and made it to a year just ad easily as I did. You just need to make sure you pumpnas pften as she wants to feed to ensure that you keep up production. This includes night time pumping.
Also contact the le leche league. They have awesome advise that helped me nurse to the full one year with my girls.
Mostly though.. drink an absolutely obscene amount of water and good hearty foods.

The other thing they can do is help make sure your Shields are the proper size. One other recommendation I have is getting a jar of extra virgin coconut oil and using it to lubricate the inside of your Shields. It will help so you don't get sore!! It works better than lanolin because it stays oily and does not get tacky. It also has other benefits as well. You can buy it on the organic section at most grocery stores. This and the proper Shields helped me gain a couple more Oz per pumping session!!

I am pumping exclusively. My little guy is one month old tomorrow. I pump every four hours, I know they say to try to pump every 2 to 3 but on top of bottle feeding it gets tough. I am pumping about 4 Oz every time I pump. I have found that my biggest issue I have had with milk supply is mainly psychological, so every other feeding I have been supplementing with 2 Oz of formula just soI see there is plenty of a stash in the fridge, so I don't start stressing about not having enough. I have been able to stay about a day ahead on feedings this way. It is a huge commitment and can be very stressful, but just keep reminding yourself of what the benefits are to your baby. Good luck mama, and props to you for doing what is the best for your baby!! I would recommend seeing a lactation consultant to see if they can aid in helping your lo latch again!!

My son latched on but I made the mistake of pumping my 3 Rd day after having my son at the hospital cause the nurse told me to cause I was in so much pain. He took to the bottle great but then wouldn't latch on after so I pumped but I lost my supply and I couldn't keep up with the amount he needed. What I would do is make sure u are pumping like every 2 hrs, 3 minimum to try to keep up the supply
