Right Temp?

My husband and I have been trying for awhile with no luck so we decided to step it up. I am starting to track my ovulation and temp? What should my temp be while i'm ovulating? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I know this may sound a bit to invasive, but it is a recommended charting technique to take your temperature vaginally if you are really having a hard time charting and getting a consistent temp.  I have never done it personally, however it takes out all of the outside conditions and is often helpful for people with your situation or who are mouth breathers etc.

to mrsweir: you are looking for a temp rise of approx. .4 or greater.  It depends on how strong your hormones are etc too as to how big the shift may be.  Everyone is different. Also you can watch for a strong dip in temp followed by a spike.  women often see the dip on the day the ovulate.  The spike comes the day after ovulation (generally speaking) when the progesterone surges. If you do this in conjunction with having sex every other day once you start noticing an increase in cervical mucus you should increase your odds.  The thing to remember is that once you see the temp shift you have already ovulated and the egg is only viable for about 24 - 48 hours so the key is to have sex prior to and up to ovulation since sperm can live for up to 5 days with good cervical mucus.

Good luck to you!

Also please remember that you need to get your temp taken on the same hour , same minute (if you can) and in the same environment. Like for example, I can't take my basal temp because my boyfriend LOVES to sleep with the window open, so sometimes I wake up freezing my butt off and other times I'm sweating. So when I was trying to take my basal temp, the readings were high, low, med, etc etc but never consistent! and that's what you need, consistency!

Hi when it comes to temping, you will need to chart for a few months to get a rough idea of your cycle, what your looking for is a temperature increase.higher than first half of your cycle.this happens from day of ovulation, your temps should stay up for at least 12 days to achieve a pregnancy.but in order to know when you do ovulate you will need to look at your cycle charts.better still if you are using ovulation tests, this will increase your chances.
