My son has had it a few times. For him the really bad part usually only lasts around 3 days. I try to keep him propped up while he's sleeping, do his breathing treatments, sometimes sitting in a steamy bathroom helps.
TY ladies very much for your input
Oh poor baby!!! My kids have all had it including Taylor. Prop the side of the crib up that she sleeps on to elevate her a little. The hot steam from the shower is good also. Humidifer in her room and plenty of fluids. Poor thing I hope she feels better soon, I know that the cough can seem like it lasts forever:~( Oh and lots of TLC!!!!
My son currently has croup for the first time (he is four, goes to kindy, so picked it up from there), took him to the doctors and my son given some antibiotics and some other stuff and within a day he sounds so much better. Croup is very common and is a viral infection of the vocal chords, I got straight on top of it so I think that has helped with his quick recovery, its the third day now since he has had medication and he is fine, still has a cough but doesn't sound like a barking dog and doesn't cough as often. It p's me off when parents take thier sick kids to school, daycare, kindy and then your child gets sick, but when kids are around other kids it is bound to happen. Hope your lil one gets well soon
My son had it before and I feel for you. It made me feel so bad knowing there was nothing much I could do. One thing the Dr. said was when he was coughing a lot go into the bathroom put the shower on hot and sit in there, not in the shower but the bathroom and let it feel up with steam and stay in there and let the steam open her airways. Another one is bundle her up and go sit outside in the cold. I hope this helps.....Michelle
