Sciatic Nerve Pain 40 Weeks and 1 Day Pregnant

I am 40 weeks and 1 day pregnant. The past five days I have had a lower back pain on my left side that shoots down my leg. I looked up some things and it seems that it might be the sciatic nerve. This is a problem for me, I can't get up most of my day because it hurts so bad. Last night I laid in our EMPTY bath tub for over an hr because I couldn't move it hurt me so bad. My husband has to help me with everything including walking and getting out of bed. When I walk my leg buckles and it has caused me to fall down. I'm worried that this would be a safety issue for my baby. I need to know what to do, last week when I went to my dr. I was only dilated to 1 and 80% effaced. Is there anything I can do or you think my dr. will do for me? I've read to exercise and things but I can't. I can't move on my own. HELP!

I'm barely 22 weeks and I already feel it, not bad tho. When did yours start? I was walking at the grocery store today and if felt like I stuck my butt in a light socket, then the pain shot down my leg. I seriously jumped up and looked at my behind like what the heck?? Lol, hopefully it doesn't continue for 18 more weeks, its horrible,

Well I have a dr. appointment today for it. I called them this morning and they want to check me out. I really hope something can be done! And I heard that induction ***** but i'm up for it at this point. Especially since I'm already past my due date. I'm more worried about falling and hurting baby or something and my husband is going back to work soon. Hopefully they can do something for me today! Wish me luck and i'll let everyone know what happened. Thanks to everyone who is concerned and i'm sorry for anyone who is going through the same thing, it really *****!

This might sound strange but If you have a tennis ball...try sitting on it where the nerve is bothering you and kind of roll it around with pressure. I had to drive with a tennis ball under my cheek when I was in my third tri. It helped a lot when I was traveling for work.

I also second acupuncture and maybe a chiropractor adjustment.

there isnt much you can do for siatic pain if bub is on the nerve,  it should go once you give birth, you could look at getting a massage done, acupucture or maybe some bowen therapy would help

I had it for twenty weeks ! So I know its awful but you're so close to the end  go see a doc and ask for help. There wasn't much they could so for me but its worth a shot! And avoid induction if you can..I was induced previous pregnancy and it was awful. I hope you go into labour soon or baby shifts ODF the nerve ..big hugs x
