Septate Uterus with Gravid Right Horn

My wife has just been diagnosed by Septate Uterus and she is in her 8th week of pregnancy. Can the forum guide me through the 2 questions which is quite concerning me;

- Complications arising due to Septate Uterus? (Is Normal Delivery possible with this complication?)
- Worst *** worse situation?

I am concerned about my wife& my kid, I am looking forward for people who have faced this problem.

First I want to say that I am currently going through my 2nd pregnancy and also my 2nd miscarriage.. And as it turns out with this pregnancy at 9 wks I found out that I also have a bicornate uterus. I was shocked at first but then reassured that it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. However being that this is now my 2nd miscarriage I am a little concerned for the future and if I'll be able to even carry a baby. From what I have been told and have read, a bicornate uterus is different for alot of women. Some have just the two uteruine cavities that are really just seperated by a septum, which can go all the way down or almost all the way down. Some have two sets of everything from ovaries to vaginas. Every case is pretty much different.
However, if you've been diagnosed with bicornate uterus, your doctor should have also warned you that its also possible to become pregnant on one or both sides and not just at the same time but one pregnancy on one side and then another pregnancy at a later date.. It acts as basically two functioning uterus'.
So with that being said.. I know miscarriages are extremely hard. My first miscarriage will have been 2 years ago in January of 2011. It was the most painful phycially and emotionally that I could ever think possible.. And it was at 13 weeks or 3 months of pregnancy. I am currently 10 weeks and am waiting for basically my uterus to do the work so I won't be forced to have a d&c. Emotionally its draining, but my doctor doesn't seem to be in a rush. I just want to say this to everyone out there going through either a miscarriage or having difficulties with a bicornate uterus.. Keep your head up and don't lose faith! Good luck to you all.  Jess

My daughter has had 4 missed miscarriages over an 11 yr period. She had been informed she had a bicornate uterus. She finally was referred to an OB who advised her with her permission to have a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy to determine whether she had a septum.

She had the surgery on the 14th July 2010 and was informed yesterday that she did not have a bicornate uterus but she had a big septum. This septum has been partially resectioned. She was also informed she had a small uterus. She goes back today to get the full prognoses and diagnosis. She is 35 and would dearly love to have a baby. She is also very upset. Will let you know the outcome in due course.

If the egg implants on the septum your changes of miscarriage are almost certain 100%. If you get lucky and it implants in a spot where there is adequate blood supply premature birth is a likely situation. There is about a 33% pregnancy success rate depending on how serious the septum is. I'm waiting on getting surgery as mine is complete and about 1 cm thick. I miscarried March 1st 2010 and will try to conceive once more before surgery. Has anyone had the surgery or know if doctors recommend it before many failed pregnancies?

There is a higher chance of miscarriage but once into the 4th month i think the uterus grows normally, and doesnt have an affect on child, as long as she doesnt have any more problems then i think she can have a normal delivery................ I am not a doctor, but i reseached a bit on it, and thats the best i could find, there is also 3 diff kinds of "septate uterus" one of the kinds are better to have then the others...... not sure which one it is. Best of Luck, She should see her "ob/gyn" doctor and ask all of her Questians to him!!!!!!
