Hair Dye

Hello. Yesterday, like a stupid and irresponsible person, I decided to use the ammonia free temporary dye from loreal. I am 27 weeks at this point. After doing this someone told me about the risks, and since yesterday i've been researching and even found that there might be a link between cancer in children and the chemicals in hair dye. Anyway, i'm not sure if this is a question, or more of a worry and concern. I just wanted to hear some thoughts on this issue. thank you very much.

a very worried, guilty, and so sad mother to be!

I read in one of my developmental psych books that the biggest concern with hairdye is the fumes. These are most dangerous during the first trimester, and even then, as long as the area is well ventilated, you will be fine. It's hard not to worry when you are pregnant. I worry about every little thing lol. Good luck! :)

Professionals say it's okay to dye your hair. It's best to wait until the second trimester. You should be fine.

I heard its not safe during the first 3 months, as thats the most critical time for the baby. But any time after that, should be okay.

I think your fine! I know so many moms and moms to be that dye their hair during pregnancy and their babies are 100% healthy.  I also know ppl who did EVERYTHING right and still ended up with unhealthy children. Life is a gamble. You can take every precaution possible but it wont guarantee a long healthy life for your child. I think whats important is to make sure the hair dye isnt soaking into your scalp. When my lady does my hair she leaves me with roots just so the dye isnt laying on my scalp for a long time. Try not to stress off the 1 time. If your not comfortable discuss it with your doctor at your next visit.
