Twins???????

Ok so i am currently 5 months pregnant today. At my 9 week appt my dr had initially thought i was having twins because i had very high hormone levels.he did an vaginal ultrasound with their rinkadink machine in the office real quick like and just said well just one.... however  immediately i felt very strongly otherwise. I have a tilted uterus and kept thinking youre not looking in the right spot....and on the ultrasound pic it clearly showed two babies not jus heads but full bodies one was horizontal (front one) and the one behind it was vertical but you could see his face and body clearly. I asked at my 12 week apt abt it and he jus laughed and asked how long ive been staring at the pic.....i went in for an elective ultrasound a few days ago where they recorded a video. there was the sonographer and a person learning. After the sonographer was done she let the tech practice and she moved the wand right to left and on the right was babys head facing you but on the way left side there was the bottom of a butt and legs facing the babies face. The practicin tech immediately said wait a minute ....thats not right all confused assuming i only had one baby.....the sonographer said nothing jus spent alot of time looking ...you could even see another heartbeat. The babies in question look as if theyd be laying one horizontal and one vertical but slanted towards the back......what is going on?????? is it one or two???? Are they allowed to make that diagnosis at a elective ultrasound place???

That is super weird. I would demand another ultrasound from your doctor... or you can try going to the hospital and tell them what is going on. For medical reasons they might want to be certain if it is one or two. Plus, the hospital doesn't charge right away.

Since you are in the process of getting medicaid.  Now wuold be a good time to find a new ob who does accept medicaid.

you can still see your OB while medicaid is in the process. my medicaid wasn't official for awhile and i just had to stay in contact with billing at my doctors office to tell them that medicaid was in the process and when it was finished they could bill medicaid...id go back to your OB!!

Yea it is a hassle but they should have a certain amount of time that have to have everything processed in.  So hopefully you will hear something soon.  I raelly had to keep on top of them when I applied.  Fortunately I did still have insurance but applied for supplemental medicaid to cover the out of pocket costs.

Some states will back pay up to 3 months, I know Georgia will go back 3 months!

Hmmmm... definitely need to see a doctor that can make that diagnosis. I would say look for free clinics or go ahead and apply for Medicaid. They can back pay for treatment for a month as long as you are approved. Let me know it works out!

If you have lost your insurance you should immediately apply for medicaid.  In most states the income levels are much higher for medicaid for pregnant women.

No they are not allowed to make ANY kind of diagnoses at elective ultrasound places.  They are strictly for entertainment purposes only and most times the techs performing them are NOT as highly skilled as those in hospitals and doctors offices.  I think you need to sit down and have a heart with your doctor.  Tell him you want an indepth ultrasound somewhere that has an updated machine and someone who knows precisely what they are doing.  While it is possible to have missed a baby on ultrasound especially with a tilted uterus, I personally would not put a lot of stock in what someone at one of those "elective ultrasound" places has to say.  I would go straight to my OB.  Good luck!

craziness right??? i def want to be prepared in all aspects......and thats exactly what i worried about is one being breeched or preterm labor because i know its more common with twins the problem is im real thin and barely look as far as i am but for me and my prior pregnancies where i NEVER show.....only prob is i lost my insurance hence why i did the elective sonogram to find out the gender......idk what to do

As far as I know at elective ultrasounds they are not allowed to be used for a diagnosis. They usually require proof that you are seeing a doctor for your prenatal care.  I think you should speak to your doctor and if you are not satisfied get a second opinion. It is important to know that everything that is going on in your pregnancy.

OMG!  Wow! I would say that you definitely need to call your regular OB and tell them what happened with your elective u/s and take the recording with you. This is definitely something you need to know so your can prepare and they don't try to let you deliver vaginally if one of the babies are breech. They should definitely be able to tell on a regular ultrasound by now if there are two in there! That is definitely amazing!
