Traveling

So, I'm supposed to be going home to see my family in a couple weeks. I'm 27 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I know that a lot of people and doctor's say that pregnant women shouldn't travel once they are in their third trimester. Is it really that much of a bad idea when you know that if something happens your family will take care of you?

My doctor told me I can fly/drive anywhere until 34 weeks I just have to get up and walk every 2 hours.  It depends on the doctor though :)

My doctor said it's okay to travel up until your last month. I will be traveling from Rapid City, SD to Pittsburgh, PA when I am about 30 weeks pregnant via plane and my obgyn and midwife were both okay with that. Once I get closer to the date I am going to ask about precautions that I should take (ie taking airborne, etc)

I would definitely talk it over with your doctor though, but I think that you are fine! Have fun visiting your family! I cannot wait to go home in June and visit mine!

I am traveling next month when I will be 32 weeks pregnant from PA to KY whih is about a 7 hour drive for a business meeting. Last month I traveled from PA to MN which was about 15 hours. Just make stops as you go so you can stretch and pee and you should be fine especially if its only 4 hours away.

My doc just had me come in and did a quick check to be sure I wasnt dilating or effaced at all when I drove 5hrs to visit fam for the weekend and thats just bc I was 33wks he said any sooner he wouldnt have thought twice, but im also a risk for preterm labor. Just mention it to your doctor and see what they will have you do. Odds are they will totally understand and work with you. I got the "if you think you just peed yourself a whole lot uncontrollably then be smart and pull off at the closest hospital" speech lol.

I won't be that far. Only about 4 hours and I'm driving. That way I can stop when I need to. I'm not worried cause my doctor said I was fine to travel as long as I wasn't going a long ways. He said everything is going fine, but if I feel that something isn't right, then I need to go to the closest hospital. (And the hospital is 5mins away from my parents house) So I figure I should be okay.

I'm traveling from wi to co when I'll be about 25wks driving 16 hours (wooohooo). I know that's not quite 3rd trimester but my doc has no worries about it. Especially if you'll be surrounded by fam when u get to your destination I personally would go :)
