Twin Pregnancy (early)

Hi All,

Am in a big confusion. A scan was taken when i was 57 days and the doctor said its a twin pregancy(early) and also said only one baby has heart beat and other doesnt...But he asked me to wait some more days to check on the other baby. My mensural cycle is every 33 days. How far is the possiblity of the second baby getting heart beat. Kindly help me.

Thanks in Advance.

I would prepare for the likelihood that one twin faded and the other is going strong.  That's called a "vanished twin," and is quite common.  I've had one myself.  It is sad to learn this diagnosis, like going to a birthday party and a funeral at the same time.  I hope you will get lucky and the ultrasound just happened to occur right as they were both starting up, and the second one just had not started yet.

That's good news.  For what it is worth, my son (who was in the womb with a vanished twin) went right to term and is very healthy.

my ultrsound tech and I were just discussing this, she is having twins and was in the same situation, She figures it was the different timing in conception, fraternal twins 2 eggs released. Do you know if you have identical or fraternals?
Wishing you the very best of luck!!
