Ultrasound Scan

Hi,

I went for an ultrasound scan on Saturday thinking i was 8 weeks 5 days and they have told me that i only measure 5weeks 5 days. I had a transvaginal scan done as they could only see the sac when scan was performed on my stomach. She said the fetus measures 2mm???

We saw a heartbeat flutter, which i guess is good. But the dates just dont add up for when me and my partner last had sex.

Can anyone help?

the first day of my last period was 17th May,
ovaulated on 31st May
had sexual intercourse on 1st June 2010

how does this mean i am 5 weeks 5 days?

I used to have take cerezette as contraception which messed up my periods and on the 17th may was the first normal period i had since coming off in March. and then i got pregnant so i am very confused.

She wants me to go for a viability scan, but i have another scan booked  on 9th so will wait till then (if i can)

Do you think that the bean is not growing as it should be? having a heatbeat is that a good sign?

Please help me.

thanks for the replies. I've got my next scan on 9th august so only 3 weeks to wait. But it can sometimes feel like a lifetime away. I spoke to a midwife today and she has said what you have both said that a seeing a heartbeat is good.↲ i will keep you posted thank you. Fingers crossed all will be ok.

Lil_lady25 she only ha intercourse on June 1 which would not give a three week gap. She was obviously ovulating around that time of inter course so maybe about 3-5 days into June which would put you at least a week behind. Everything is probably and hopfully fine since there was a heartbeat

Well I have been searching fo you and a 5 week fetus is 1.25 mm 6 weeks is 2-4 mm so.... I think maybe she measured wrong... It's really good that there was a heartbeat cause that means that the baby didn't stop growing so maybe you ovulated a few days later and maybe the ultrasound equipment wasn't very good. Do you have you appt for your next ultrasound yet?

I dont think anything is wrong I just think that your dates are off. Since you didnt use a OPK you really do not knew when you ovulated. The online calculators are for woman who have regular cycles and it is very standard. I wouldnt rely on that source alone. I wouldnt worry to much as like you said there was a heartbeat. I would just relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Keep us updated. I hope everything turns out okay for you.

No because it was a private scan so i was in and out. She advised that i go for a viability scan in 10-14 days and talk to midwife, but she is away until wednesday. So just wanted some advice, so do think something could be wrong?

Did you talk to your dr about the results cause that is off by quite a bit but it's great that there is a heartbeat. My last period was may 11th and I had an ultrasound a 8 weeks 3 days and it mesured perfect with a very apparent heartbeat.... I hope everything is okay and good luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response.

I didnt use an ovulation predictor i just used an online calculator.

I dont have many symptoms either, so just a lil worried. Current symptoms are on and off breast tenderness, increase in discharge and veins on breasts.

So you think all this is normal?

Yes, having a heartbeat is definitely a good sign. The chances of anything bad happening lowers after the heartbeat can be seen. Your dates are off but you could have implanted a lot later than you suspect. Are you sure that you ovulated on May 31st? Were you using an ovulation predictor Kit?

I wouldnt worry too much as it seems that everything is right on track for 5w5d. Enjoy your pregnancy and congrats!
