VENT! Town plow ruined driveway and just broke our NEW snowblower!

I am soooo livid right now!  DH and I just bought a brand new snow blower last Saturday (almost $1000) which is a BIG purchase for us.  We knew we'd get tons of use out of it because we get several storms a year that drop at least a foot of snow...Well last night, we were watching a movie and we heard this awful noise at the bottom of our driveway...We saw a town plow sitting there and reversing and moving away from our driveway/edge of the road.  DH said, "I bet he just ripped up our driveway"  Ever the optimist, I said it was probably nothing to be worried about...NOW this morning with a foot of snow, we are snow blowing the driveway and voila, a chunk of tar goes into the auger and breaks the snow blower!!!!!  SO now I have a ripped up driveway and a one week old snow blower getting its first use that is broken!!!  I called the highway department and left a curt message...I cannot wait for them to call back!  It is still snowing and we are in for another storm tomorrow!  Half our driveway is done...my BIL is out in the storm trying to fix it...this is just pushing me over the edge!  Maybe it is the pregnancy hormones but I am ripping!

Thanks for listening to me vent!  Luckily, my bil did fix it BUT the point is he shouldn't have had to kneel down in the snow during a snow storm to fix it!  The warranty was only for manufacturers defects so this would not be covered and we would have been up the creek!

Still no call back from the highway department and now I am getting nervous that if they send the town plow again he'll do more damage because now it is all uneven and chunked up...literally chunks a foot long/foot wide are missing sporadically from the bottom!

OY!

It's not your hormones! I'd be livid as well. What on earth were they doing?!

I bet the snow blower is still on warranty but if it isn't I hope you get it replaced at the snow blower guy's expense.

It was a city truck...I did see that much...LUCKILY my bil has the snowblower up and running so the other half of the driveway is getting done.  DH and BIL had to shovel out the bottom though because we can't snow blow down there again!  It took a huge chunk out of my driveway!  Still p*ssed!  Maybe lunch will make me feel better!

I would be sooooo P***ed off if I were you too!!  You've got to love New England weather!!!
Where did you buy the snow blower from?  Maybe you can return it.
We got about 9 inches in Woburn but at least its the light fluffy snow.   I am so not looking forward to another 3-6 inches of this stuff Sunday!!!!!

Most cities in MA contract out there snow plowing,  Did you get the name off the side of the Snow plow or was it a city truck?

Good luck

NO, that is not your hormones I would be furious too, oh wait could be my hormones too, LOL No seriously, do you have some kinda warranty on the blower? I would try to take it back and be like I don't know why it won't work, give me a new one! LOL Maybe DH can send you and they might feel sorry for the pregnant chick! Play it up girl! I hope they fix your drive way too, I know onr time the road dept "fixed" our road so it wouldn't flood, well they fixed it alright to flood our DRIVEWAY!! It was like pulling teeth but they finally did somthing about it. Good luck.
