I don't know of any books or anything, but we did make our own. We did mostly sweet potato, squash, banana's mixed with sweet potato, apple sauce, and what ever looked good at the farmers market.
A food saver Vaccum should work just fine. What we used was we'd put it in some of those smaller glad ware type things, and freeze, put in the Fridge a day or two before we use it, and use the same container for 2-3 days. Also, Look for teething bisket recipe online, at 9 months there amazing! Our son was really only on "baby food" for about 3 months, after that (and even before that a bit) we'd just mash with a fork what ever we were eating once we had introduced those foods.
Good Luck!
I've taken care of babies for the last 19 years, but I've never used home made baby food.
I have never made baby food and was wondering if anyone had a good recipe book to recomend. I have searched Amazon and Ebay and found several books however I don't know if they are good or not. Amazon has such mixed reviews on almost all the books.
I know that your suppose to make single item blends and only introduce one item a week to watch for allergies. I know there are a few items that you have to wait till after a year to even introduce.
I was looking at baby food desingned storage containers and I can't believe how expensive they are. I have a Food Saver Vaccum sealer and I wonder if I can use that once I have frozen the food into an ice cube tray to keep it fresh and not freezer burnt.
yeah, blend up a variety of different boiled vegetables, put each one in ice cube trays and freeze the meals (good to cover with zip lock freezer bags for hygiene), and when needed just take out of the freezer. pop a couple of cubes into a bowl, heat for a couple of seconds or so in the microwave, stir and test first (as it has been in the microwave, be extremely careful that the temperature is equal all through and not too hot)
When my daughter first started eating solids I would make simple things like sweet potatoes. :D Then pea and carrots and regular potatoes. I would get the peas and carrots frozen and just broil them with water once done I would put in the baby blender (babies r us) u can use a regular blender and puree it. She loved it. I also made Apple sauce. I did that for a few months then time slipped away from me and I couldn't do it anymore. Good Luck!
