Thanks for sharing. I think I will try to wait until the first doctors appt at 8 weeks and we see that heartbeat. Hopefully he will be ready to tell then.
I'm like your husband and was relieved when he respected my preference not to tell until after the first trimester (he did slip and tell one close friend/neighbor but they became our potential back up if something went wrong - we have a young daughter). I also had no issues with my first pregnancy but you never know when something can go wrong since most miscarriages, etc are unavoidable chromosomal abnormalities. Therefore, I would petition to wait until he is comfortable.
We waited till our doctor confirm the pregnarncy which is at 8 weeks with a strong heartbeat first. Then we're each allow to tell one person, to keep us from exploding, lol. After 12 weeks check up we told our close family and friends, it was during thanksgiving dinner too :). And the rest of the world and Facebook, it was almost 20 weeks when that happen.
We have a few elderly in the family who has been waiting for this baby for a while now, so we don't want them to find out until all is confirm to be well by the doctor first. So i set the 12 weeks rule for husband, poor guy had such a hard time holding it in. This is our first too, lol.
We went for a dating scan and due to us getting married on Sunday we told all close family including our friends when i was 7 weeks. At the end of the day felt if anything did go wrong I would need the support of my family anyway
