Ultrasounds? So wrong in my opinion!

So I got an ultrasound at 9 weeks to confirm pregnancy and again at 17 weeks to determine gender!

I went to my appointment last week at 21 weeks and ask when my next one will be and they say that they don't have time to do another or do my 4d that I would pay for because they are too busy!!?

I understand that they are busy but I'm supposed to just trust that everything is fine with my baby for the rest of my pregnancy and not question it?

I feel I should have one more just to see if he's breech or not and to see how much he should weigh at birth!

Instead they tell me of some ultrasound boutique I can go pay for ultrasounds at!! That's bull!!

Not to mention that my first born was born with a hole in his heart that they overlooked during ultrasounds with him!!

I want to throw a fit and give them hell until they do another one but I don't want them to just half asss do it just so I will shut up!!

It's important to me and I'm very seriously wanting to switch clinics because of this but being 22 weeks I'm scared it's too late to do that!!

I only got 2 and I'm 30+3. I can feel baby moving and so I don't worry about his health. As long as he continues to measure right I wont receive another. They can tell by feel what position he is in and start monitering that at 36 weeks I believe. Don't need an ultrasound to tell what position he's in or if he's healthy. If I have a legitimate concern about him they will get me in and do an u/s if necessary.

I have had two ultrasounds so far, but will have one next week at 36 weeks to determine her growth and position.. every doctor should give an ultrasound before you deliver, to make sure they are in the eight position, etc!  I would switch.

That's awesome glad that it was a misunderstanding. Sometimes all u need to do is say you want to leave this office for them to come around lol

I agree, switch doctors. It's YOUR baby, you decide how many you want. I get one ever app, every 4w, then later every 2w. I have federal insurance, but still, that's why I go to my Dr. Good luck hun

I just called and told them I was thinking of switching and why and asked if any other clinics were covered by medicaid in my area and they said that the girl telling me that they couldn't do any more ultrasounds didn't know what she was talking about and to tell my doctor about it next appointment and they will do another one!!!:) glad I called!!! Thanks ladies

I would switch ob's! I've done it before,  there is no way in hell at 21wks u won't get another ultrasound because they are too busy.  Insurance related or not. Every doctor office is different. I'm on baby #3. First time,  I had great insurance & the #1 ob in town, & I had u ltrasounds at almost every appt. Then with my second,  I had medicaid & I switched ob because I didn't live the staff there. Ended up going to the ob that delivered me which was awesome & loved it but they didn't accept medicaid patients that weren't preggers. This is my third,  trying a new place now again that I can go to beyond pregnancy with medicaid. Love it so far.  22wks tomorrow

I would say switch! My doctor at kaiser is so understanding and has given me and ultrasound every appointment because I ask! Even if it takes a little longer than it should! You should see for yourself that everything is okay!

I also have 2 different forms of insurance which I will inform them of on my next app. I have medicaid on record but my husband recently just got an awesome job and is paying for insurance for us and our kids now

Well I'm pretty sure that the clinic I'm at is the only one I can keep the same doctor! She's a great doctor it's just the people at the clinic that drive me nuts!!

They should want to keep every patient happy and it's not my fault nor my babies that they are so busy!!

They used the excuse that my insurance only pays or 2. Well why in the hell did they do 5 during my last pregnancy and didn't charge me a dime??
I had a normal pregnancy and they never found anything wrong with my son to have to do so many!

I had one at 14 wks and one at 19 wks. When I asked if i was having another only to be told I was only supposed to have one for the gender. I ended up switching doctors office because I didn't trust what they were saying so I had another at 29 wks.  My old doctor also gave me a list of places that I can get 3d/4d done I just wish I had the money to do it. But my sister said she found a home ultrasound machine for cheap so of I get pregnant again I'm definitely looking into getting it so I can do it myself whenever I want to.

They aren't required to do more then 2. Yes it's messed up but a doctor can feel if your child is breech they don't need a picture for that. Also they should be checking for the heart beat at every appointment.

In my area, they were going to do my FIRST one at 23weeks. I wasn't happy. This was on Friday too when I found this out.  I asked how many ultrasound clinics there were in town, that worked with my insurance. The nurses said (looking on their computers) they were all booked solid. It took me only two days, but I called them all each day to ask about cancellations, so I could fill in the appt. I'm booked today at 230 to find out measurements and sex TODAY. I just took it into my own hands to go outside the doctors office, over their heads lol. Maybe you have the same options?

That's how I feel about it! Just really upsets me that they are willing to go without checking on my son for more than half of the rest of my pregnancy! A lot could go wrong from 17-40 weeks!!

Yes that sounds wrong to me. I would be highly pissed off...every patient should be a priority! And if they are to busy to be concerned about your wants and needs I would definetly look into going to another clinic.
