My Dr considers full term 37 weeks.
That's just what they go by. A lot of drs still say 37 weeks is full term.
Not necessarily, adrianna-amelia. Many healthy babies are born earlier than 39 weeks and some babies born at full term have complications of their own. But babies born before 39 weeks have a much higher likelihood of having problems so it's best to keep them in there and growing as long as possible.
Nah, there wont be anything wrong. But those last few weeks are important. So if it is at all possible to wait, then you should do so :)
The new guidelines were published in January of this year stating that 39-41 weeks is full term. That's from the ACOG who determine best practice guidelines for American medical care in obstetrics and gynecology.
So if the baby is born before 39 weeks will there be something wrong with the baby ?
Like both Stacey & I just said, this study just came out recently & yes it's because the brain is still developing. I wanna say I heard about this roughly a week or so ago.
My midwife told me 37 weeks
It used to be 37, but apparently those last few weeks are the most critical because the brain grows a lot more towards the end with all the good stuff :)
It used to be thought they 37 weeks was full term, but recently a new study has been conducted indicating full term is now 39 weeks.
