They check between 35-37 weeks. Don't be scared if you have it though. it is very common and the antibiotics keep the baby safe.
Oh wow. Thanks. I dont guess they've checked me for it yet. Im 32 weeks and never heard of it.
It is a common strep bacteria that like one in 4 women have in their vaginal/rectum area, that causes no problems to the women. However the baby can contract it at birth and it can cause serious infection and even death int he baby. But if you are given iv antibiotics when your water breaks it helps the infection not to pass to the baby.
My dr said its a bacteria we get in our vagina that if it comes in contact with the baby it can go blind, but you get treatment while in labor so the dr said not to worry
This may seem like a crazy question, but what exactly is group b strep? Lol im a ftm and keep seeing posts about it and was curious.
I got tested last week at 36 weeks, ftm and tested positive :'(
yes I was positive with my first and now I'm negative but i keep reading stuff that the test can be wrong, and even my Dr. said usually if you are positive with your first you will be again, so I am nervous and want to get the antibiotic even though i tested negative this time. So I am assuming you didn't get the antibiotic with your second and all went well. how far along were you when they tested if you can remember?
I was pos with my 1st an neg with my 2nd I'm curious as to what I am gonna be with my 3rd.
When do they test for this? I've never had it done.
I was negative with my first and positive with my second. Idk what it will be this time around.
