birthing plan?

So im 30weeks as of today and this app says that if i havent already thought of a birthing plan, that i should. I kinda get the just of it. But how do i plan a birth? Arent i just gonna head to the hospital, be in pain for a couple hours and pop my baby out? Im not sure what im suppose to plan and is this something i do with my dr? Or drs dont do that, u just tell them what u want?

Lol yes i understand birth plans dont always go as plan. But i am wanting to hopefully go as smootly and as close to my idea of a smooth birth as possible. Of course i want them to take action if things dont go well, but i certainly dont want to feel uncomfortable with certain decisions they make. I would wabt to know whats going on every step of the way. And if they try to follow it as best as they can, as long as they tried ill be happy. This is my first baby so i am and will be nervous about everything. :) but its exciting too!

Even so, you can make a plan in the event of csections. My mom made one. The thing is its your birth and yes emergency may happen however that doesn't mean you have no say it your birth. This is my third baby and I experienced birth rape due to a nurse not listening to me. It was horrible, painful, and violating and I will not allow it to happen again. Just make sure your doctor is understanding and willing to work with you. I am putting my foot down this time and not letting them tell me how it's gonna go. I have had two natural labors so this one is going to go smoothly too. I've already told the little bear not to pull any shenanigans on me

They would say to you...the thing with birth plans is that that'swhat they are - a plan of how you would LIKE things to go - they can't really be followed 100% unless you have a straightforward labour / birth, things may change and sometimes things have got to happen that you didn't want.

My birth plan was for a water birth (preferably), to be able to move about as much as possible, gas and air for pain relief (although willing to advance to next level of pain relief if necessary), skin to skin as soon as baby arrived etc.   I also only wanted foetal heart monitoring as and when required and no internals unless required.

However, I didn't go into labour naturally, and had to have my waters broken artificially.   Wihtin 15 mins I was having contractions 3 mins apart.   Midwife used a doppler after about 30 mins to do a routine check on  baby's HR during a contraction -she heard it dip so I came off the birthing ball and was hooked up to the CTG machine for proper monitoring for thirty mins.   But HR kept dropping with each contraction so I had to stay in bed hooked upto CTG.   Then it dropped for longer periods and took longer to recover so had to lie on left side - it dropped too low when on my back, even half sitting up and even lower when on my right side.   Then they had to give me epidural cause I wasn't allowed to move even curl up with contractions.   BD went to toilet in the patients lounge two doors away and when he came back there was three MWs, a Consultant and a Dr in my room - I was half unconscious with an oxygen mask on and they had put a clip on babys head to make sure he was getting enough oxygen -all this without consent as it was a medical emergency.  I made it to fully dilated aand was pushing but he wasn't coming and I ended up with emergency c-section.

Not wanting to scare you but please be aware that just cause it's in your plan doesn't mean it will or won't happen - where possible they will follow it but there may be circumstances that arise that mean the birth plan gets thrown out the window lol x

It's always a good idea to make a birth plan because nurses will ask the same questions over and over so you can have the plan there for yhem

My hospital asked me all of that when I was admitted. They asked if I was BF if I was going to use pacifiers and stuff

Wow! I definetaly want only breast milk, and i want to be able to move around. Staying stuck in bed would be the worst! Now with a birthing plan, it means drs and nurses cant do nothing without my or hubbys consent right?

Yes ! Def put no formula or supplement feeding strictly breastfeeding! And yes that baby is to be accompanied by a parent at ALL times. I just pulled one offline and filled it out. Also look up natural pain management techniques such as walking or birthing ball and put that on there that you do not want to lay flat on your back and want to move around etc if that's what you want. And as far as the icky baby goes its different when it's your own baby. I love new baby smell.

Oh i see. So how do u know if u want ur baby cleaned first or not? I watch baby story on tlc and it grosses me out a little to see the baby all covered in mucus and whatever else there is. And i dont do good with blood but i also dont wabt to miss oit on the bonding experience either. When its ur own i guess it must be different. So i would put in the birthing plan that i dont want them to give formula to my baby. I want him to be pure breast milk....well unless something goes wrong and i dont have milk or something of course. Would i also put in there that i dont want hom to leave my sight or hubbys sight? And is this something i write on paper, or the dr have a sheet especially for that?

I never thought about any of this until now.

Water birth costs extra so be careful some insurance won't cover it! But I put no pain mess period, music to play, skin to skin before cleaning the baby, let me nurse before cleaning the baby, not to break my water for me, not to do any sweeps, only check me if in fetal distress, etc

I was totally the same, had no idea how your meant to plan something like this,I've just done mine the moSt important stuff is :
who you want there with you
What kind of birth, i.e water birth
And weather you want your baby put straight onto you after birth or cleaned up first
That's the just of it but your Dr should go threw things like pain relief.
