I had a c-section on Wednesday. And it was a breeze. They gave me my IV, took my blood, gave me a few medicines to stop the acid in my stomach. I asked to have the catheter put in AFTER my spinal and they agreed. I waited for my OB and was then wheeled to the ER. I sat up and bent over while a nurse help my shoulders. My spinal did not hurt, it's a smaller needle than the epidural. I was given numbing medicine which burned a little, not bad at all. Then got my spinal. All I felt was pressure and a pop. Then my legs got warm and went numb. They then brought my fiancé back and he sat behind me. The put my catheter in, I didn't feel it at all. When they cut me open, it was just tugging and pulling. Then when they took my son out it was just pressure. Then I was stapled up and taken to recovery. They will massage your uterus every 15 minutes for the first hour. You'll bleed like crazy. Then every hour for a few hours. You'll also have an ice pack for the first 24 hours. Now, the day after the c-section you will be very sore. Keep up on your pain medicine. I'm now 5 days postpartum and doing great. I don't take pain medicine anymore. Still sore, but not bad at all. Good luck, hope this helped.
