cutting?

I'm from newfoundland Canada and my boyfriend is trying to tell me that the first thing they do before you push is cut you from where the baby comes out to your clip.  Is this true?

An episiotomy is a cut down toward your butthole. Most doctors don't do it unless baby is stuck and they need to. But it doesn't usually happen. And you can tell them you don't want one if they're one of those doctors who just do it. Just ask your doctor about it.

I meant clit*. That's what his brother told him because apparently when his brothers gf had her baby what's what they did. But I always thought they always cut back.not front

Has your boy friend ever had a baby?  I'd probably not pay attention to his labor advice.
If you want to avoid an episiotomy,  talk to your doctor or midwife about exercises and stretches you can do to prepare. Also, let them know you want to avoid one. I've had 4 babies and only one episiotomy. That was with my first and my doctor was and douche canoe.

If the doctor sees that you might rip what he or she will do is cut you instead of rip so it's easier too stich you up ... it's called a Episeadamy

Some doctors still do an episiotomy, but its a dying practice because if they cut you, you are more likely to tear more. Most doctors just let you tear naturally.
