How long did you stay in the hospital after birth?

I'm a FTM and was wondering how long is your hospital stay if you have no complications? Is it longer for c-sections? I'm having twins and was wondering how long was the average stay after birth.

... when my sister gave birth they pretty much told her as soon as you can walk you can leave. She ended up being forced out later the same day she gave birth.

Depends on the hospital and your insurance.  My insurance covers 2 days if no complications for vaginal delivery and 4 days for c-section.  With my first I had a vaginal delivery so the hospital let me stay the full 2 days, but I could have gone home after 1 day if I had a pediatric appointment scheduled for my baby before I left the hospital. That was their standard policy that you had to have an appointment in place within 2 days or you had to wait and have the baby checked out in the hospital before you could leave.

My hospital was two nights and three days!!!! But thats because i gave birth at 4 in the morning lol . So they told me because even though i came the night before i gave birth the next morning. Which means i still have to stay two nights at the hospital. So i think it depends on your hospital. You should give your hospitals l&d and ask them!! Im sure they will be happy to answer all those question. Oh even ask if they give a tour of it and then u can ask all your questions! ! Sorry its so long but i hope it was helpful

It depends on your hospital. At mine, the stay is one night if you have no complications. You have to stay a few nights if its a c section.
