Not sure if anyone can help..

So not sure if anyone can help in here, but I really want to be able to breast feed but I had a breast reduction in 2011 and was told I may not be able to coz they cut A LOT off /away and messed up my milk ducts etc.  Just wondering if anyone in here has had any experience, or knows anyone who has been able to breast feed after this surgery??

I can't remember the surgeons name, it was through the public health system not private so I didn't get to pick. They asked me if I wanted to wait until after I had kids so that I could breastfeed as the chances are slim, but some woman have been able to. I don't know if we have anything like that in NZ? and in the process of finding my 3rd lmc so when I finally settle I will talk about it then. I've read that pumping can help stimulate the milk flow but I don't think there is any way of telling if my milk ducts r connected lol I can feel my nipples now (they have been numb since the op) so I'm hoping that's a good sign

I don't have any knowledge about this situation but are you able to schedule an appt or talk to the doctor who did the surgery so you can get more insight on what he/she thinks your chances are on breast feeding? Either that or you can have a doctor evaluate you and see what they think. Another option is to maybe talk to a lactation consultant from La Leche League and explain your situation. They should have knowledge on the subject and be able to explain a little and/or provide you with some options. It's worth looking into! Good luck :)
