Throwing my cousin a baby shower -What to get?
Okay, well my cousin just lost her mom in August due to a drowning where I live. (Some of you may remember me posting about losing my aunt). So her mom helping her is out of the question. Which is hard on my cousin. She has a 4 year old daughter and never had a baby shower with her. Now, she is pregnant with a boy that they named Dalton, and was not going to have a baby shower. She has no family or friends where she lives. Just her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I decided to throw her one. She's due in 8 weeks and we've set the date for June 4th to have time to get everything we need to help. She says she has about a dozen outfits, 6 bottles and a bassinet. What else would you recommend getting to help? Her husband works out of state so she doesn't see him that often except on the weekends. They are a little tight on money. They just went through the tornado that came through Alabama last week. So far I know that the theme she wants for Dalton and brown & green.
It won't be a very big baby shower. Just a couple of close family members that are already down here and a few of my friends. Naturally, there will be food but I don't know what to get or make. Usually, all the baby showers I've been too have been little finger foods but she and I are both pregnant and I don't think finger foods are going to cut it lol.. I know there are some baby shower games but I've never played any myself.

For my cousin we plan on getting her something just don't know what yet... and for her little girl were getting her a Big Sister shirt. I have the cake covered on what were wanting to get. So far, we've got some things planned and hopefully they work out :)

Don't forget a little something for the momma and soon-to-be big sister. This is all probably very hard on her, and I know most expecting their second are worried about the impacts on the first.
Maybe include an activity that involves the older one decorating a onsie for the baby? Maybe with a handprint? If she is so alone, little sentimental things like that will be helpful.

I am in agreement w/ clothes, diapers and just general grooming things for the baby (shampoos, lotions, wipes, Desitin, etc.). Does she have any of the big stuff?? I know they are pricey and no one may be able to contribute that much, but she will def need a car seat to bring the baby home in. High chairs and other big items can wait. They can also be purchased used at garage sales or various internet sites.
As for food....you could always just get a deli tray for making sandwiches. Veggie/fruit trays always seem popular. Might be even cheaper to do those yourself and just make simple dips. I would def get or make a cake though.
The games....I agree w/ just googling and seeing what you come up with. At Hallmark type stores, I am sure they have some of that kind of stuff already put together in packages. I mean there has to be someplace that people get all those pink and blue plastic little pacifiers. LOL! But off the top of my head, I don't know. If you do the games, you can get any prizes at a $ store.
Oh, and my kids live in the onesies when they are little. I am not one to dress them up much. I really want my babies to be comfortable...especially when they can't tell you they are not. So I am a onesies girl all the way. I also am fine w/ cotton long sleeve pants/shirts.

Diapers, clothes like onesies, and sleepers, wipes, all the grooming stuff is essential!
Most people don't care for the baby shower games. Just food and gifts and fellowship!

diapers diapers and more diapers in different sizes about 1-2 pack of newborn size, 2 of size 2. 3 of size 4 and 3 of size 4. that will be a good start. wipes, bibs A&D ointment. Dr. Brown bottles, breast pump, play pen, books, a few stimulating toys (mirror).. she will use all of these things and definitely won't go to waste.
