Diachong I have seen you commenting on a lot of people's posts being a rude b****. This is a forum for support, not for useless comments from people like you putting people down for no reason! Get a life. Seriously

I'm almost 37 weeks, I quit when I was about 7 weeks, within 2 weeks of finding out. I still get the occasional "I want a cigarette so bad right now" thought but then I tell myself it's not worth it, because not only is it bad for my unborn son, but it would be killing me faster too. My son was my final kick in the rump so to speak to make me quit. I told my hubby not to smoke around me, which eventually got him to drop cigarettes, but then he took up cigars, but he tries not to smoke around me. It's hard. But you have to want to quit, you have to make yourself quit, nobody can do it for you. The sooner you quit, the better for you and your baby. I wish you the best of luck in this challenge.

I was a cigarette and weed smoker and a big drinker for many years, when I found out I was pregnant with my first I halted everything right that second and didnt look back. My bf is a heavy smoker and I hate it when he says he can't stop smoking and doesn't have the will power. I get it some people are a little weaker than others but I guess when it comes to my babies and their health my mind and will are stronger than ever. I'm no longer thinking about myself and what my weaknesses are, I'm thinking only about my baby being as healthy and happy as possible and that's enough to make me do anything that's best for my baby. Good luck!

When I got pregnant with my son, I started focusing on all the nasty things about them, the chemicals, the smell, the taste, the appetite killer, and I got to where even thinking about them made me sick at my stomach. The mention of a cigarette made me gag hysterically so maybe that will help you. Think of how absolutely nasty they are for you and baby.

Honestly I was a heavy smoker and was down to about 2 packs a day... I was smoking for 4 years .. When I found out I was pregnant I quit immediately because I couldn't risk harming my baby.. I didn't suffer through any withdrawals because I had something worth quiting over. Cold turkey is the only thing that works. Cutting back won't help.

Maybe she didn't find my advice helpful, but I think the love of your child should be enough to stop you from smoking.

I had the same problem at the start and one day woke up Completely sick to my stomach at the thought of smoking which was lucky for me! But due to some stress I started again but then decided to buy an electronic cigarette I know some people are against these aswell but I find having it and knowing it's there helps a lot instead of going cold turkey because I think u want something more when u can't have it and if I really crave a cigarette I have a few puffs on the electronic...now I don't even want a cigarette and highly doubt I'd go back to smoking them...good luck!!

What im saying diachong is that your advice was not helpful in any way. This is a support forum. Not a place to come and get called selfish. If you read her post properly you would see that she said that she has mostly stopped but wants help with the continual thoughts. So at what point do you think calling her selfish or weak would help her to get over these thoughts? :) best of luck with your pregnancy, diachong. Hope you never need advice with something and get totally cut down by someone so helpful like yourself. All the best. ;)

I was in the same boat. I talked to my doctor for help and she said until 14 weeks its not super harmful to your baby. Obviously you want to quit before then but use that time as a time to get yourself in a position where you can quit and cute down. I smoked until about 9 weeks and then I had cut down so much that I was able to quit cold turkey. I still think about it often. But knowing it'll harm my baby is enough for me. I'm now 37 weeks.

Thank you so much your comment was the most helpful you got my question I'm trying to deal with the thought of smoking more than the action I can't smoke recently anyways it makes me sick but the thoughts are annoying and I think about it a lot I appreciate your advice instead of just calling me selfish you sound like you understand :) thank you

It is selfish but a very strong addiction some people like myself don't have a strong enough will power and self control I did mention that I have not smoked and only a few sense finding out I have been better I was asking mostly about the thought of it how could I not think about it, I did feel like you straight attacked me instead of giving advice about the real question I asked

mandajayne0333 right because it's totally not selfish to be poisoning your helpless child just because you can't control yourself

I didnt mean the cut down post i meant the first one. Being called selfish and having no willpower not particularly helpful in my opinion.

^^^ yeah thanks for the helpful advice. Lol dont worry about what pp just said. Not helpful at all. The best thing is to try and keep busy. They say the craving is worse for the first couple mins and should subside after 20 mins. So drinking some water, exercise helps as it also releases feel good chemicals. Chewing gum or even sucking on a lolly pop can alsp help as it busies your mouth. Calling a friend even, same thing. :) youre doing awesome mumma so well done on making it this far. You can do it. Also it is harder when everyone else is smoking around you. Ask them to do it elsewhere and to not mention it or even have smokes around you so it doesnt play on your mind so much. :) best of luck. X

Thinking about your baby should be enough to make you stop smoking. I smoked weed and cigarettes all day everyday for the last 10 years but as soon as I found out I was pregnant I quit cold turkey. I love my baby more than I love smoking so it was easy for me. It's just selfishness and lack of self control that's making it hard for you to stop, sorry but it's true. I have a lot of people around me that smoke too. My bf and I live together and he smokes all the time, but I stay away from him when he's smoking. You can do it, you just have to think about your baby
