What all do I need for baby?

I am going to pack my hospital bag tonight and make a list for what else I need for the babys room.

So far we have: clothes (lots of onezies, socks, hats, a few outfits, bibs- that's it)
blankets
bassinet
lamps for nursery
a baby bath
books
stuffed animals

I know we need a dresser for baby clothes and a couple tables to put the lamps on. Other than that am I missing anything?

Thanks everyone. That helps ALOT!

I'm so excited. I'm getting a crib & changing table for my B-day present. We'll keep the bassinet in our room for a while but it will be nice to have a nursery set up :)

I'm also getting a breast pump for B-day... It's weird!!! I used to want a nice dinner, drinks and some new clothes LOL

oh, good idea about money for the vending machines!! Oh, and are you going to get any of those little hand mitts for the baby.  You don't have to use them, but they do come in handy so that the baby doesn't scratch up their face!

good call on packing things for him too.  I have my bag half packed and I never thought to pack an extra shirt for him... I'm going to go add that stuff to the bag!

Do you have sheets? You will want tight fitted sheets on the basinet or crib mattress. Also, the mattresses are often plastic to protect against leaks, but that makes them very cold. You should also get a mattress cover to provide a little more insulation between your baby and that cold mattress. You may also need neosporin if it's a boy and he's being circumcized (sp). My doctor had me put vaseline on the gauze then neosporin on top of that and then down on the penis before closing his diaper.

For your bag for the hospital: I didn't think to do this for my husband the first time around, but will this time. Pack your busband some stuff too. Like a pair of shorts and an extra t-shirt or something. My husband was such a trooper and stayed with me the entire time after having my son. I never thought to pack a toothbrush or deoderant for him. Pack light, you don't want to walk in with a suit case, but do pack some essentials for him. Also, have plenty of small money like one's and coins. My husband spent a lot of time frequenting the vending machines for soft drinks and juices.  Also, bring your camera and extra batteries! When my son was born we had about 8 rolls of film...we were ready...NOT! Our batteries died. We have since upgraded to a digital camera and have note to bring lots of extra batteries. These are on my list of must do's or haves. Good luck!
