first round of clomid... please help

Hi everyone, I posted on monday after my day 11 and was slightly dissapointed. I have been for another scan today which is day 14. My 12.4 follicle  on my left is now 17mm and was also so shocked to find that she found one on my right which was 20mm.... not sure how that was missed on monday lol. my lining is 9mm which she said was good??? at what point will i ovulate?? i have been doing lh surge tests (okp's) every day and still nothing??? will the follicles continue to grow??? And does this mean i will ovulate on both sides? i was told about the risk of multiples also but what are the chances... does anyone know please??? I am so worried and just would love to chat to anyone with a similar outcome or anyone who can answer my questions? knowone replied to my last post and was gutted : ( please help.......
Thanks
Kate x

I wasn't monitored like that. I had to do a lot of BT's but no US for follice sizes.

It took my girlfriend 5 rounds to conceive her daughter. So even if it doesn't work this round don't loose hope.

Hi there,
Congratulations on your wonderful news!!! It's lovely to hear from you.
Was your cycle monitored at all on clomid? Lots of people from the US are not for some reason? If you were monitored what size were your follicles? I have been doing lh surge tests every day and still not got a positive result?? I'm very confused as i thought any follicles over 17 were definatly going to reaease?? Maybe i was miss informed?? x

I did Clomid.... I had a bad miscarriage that lasted way longer (6-8 weeks) then it should have without a d&c.  but emerge didn't do the referal that they said they were doing.  and the drs office said my referral from them was to go to emerge.  so it was a complete bust.   I finally got refferred to an OB 6 months later and he said I had PCOS.... thought it was BS.   but i tried his way for 6 months, and when that didnt work i asked for a refferral to the ferility specialists.   Had and a HSG and after that my cycles went back to normal.   They still had me do the clomid but the specialist said that the HSG probably cleared out whatever was blocking my tubes that should have been cleared by a D&C.

Now I'm 9 1/2 weeks pregnant from the first round.  so it can work.   Just try not to let yourself stress out over it.  it's not good for you.

yes, I had the hsg and the results of that were "normal."  I can't tell you how FRUSTRATING it was that, year after year, and not being able to conceive, so many doctors were like, "well, you seem to be normal and healthy, just can't get pregnant."  I KNEW something was wrong with my body and I KNEW my hormones were off.  But until we saw our current RE and did IVF, the doctors just weren't "getting it."  My periods were ALWAYS irregular.  Some years, I'd only have 3 or 4 periods in the entire year.  Some months, I'd have two periods in one month.  There was never a rhyme or reason.  What about you?  And yes!!  DON'T lose hope!!!  There is ALWAYS hope!!  You will be a mommy one day.  We adopted our first child and he is the love of our life!  And now, after IVF, we're pregnant!  BOTH of our kids are miracles!!

No, I'm in the USA.  I was unexplained infertility.  Doctors "thought" I had PCOS but taking metformin and clomid did nothing for me, so they never really knew.  I didn't ovulate on my own, though.  I always had irregular periods.

that is strange, are you in the uk? were you unexplained infertility? I have had one 21 day projesterone test about 4 months ago but as i have irregular periods it showed that i didn't ovulate, but i guess when they range from 23-32 days it must be hard right? x

Oh, and I should add that when I took clomid, they didn't measure my follicle sizes, but they always tested my progesterone levels on day 21 to see if I had ovulated.

So it's really interesting ... I took clomid for YEARS and they never did scans to measure my follicles during that time.  The only time I was scanned to measure my follicles is when we did IVF and I was follicle stimulating hormone injections.

Katy - I keep wanting to respond to you because I know how "desperate" it feels to just want SOMEONE to be listening who has "been there."  But then I've tried to hold myself back because I didn't know if you'd want to hear my answer.  But I'll give it to you anyway.

We did clomid on and off for seven years with no luck at getting pregnant. :(  We did lots of fertility things before finding our current clinic and doing IVF.  The IVF was successful and now we are 36 weeks pregnant!

I don't want you to lose hope when I say that clomid didn't work for us.  Because I really feel that something WILL work for you.  And I don't want you to lose hope!!  Even we didn't lose hope after seven years of trying!  And now we're pregnant!

So ... best of luck to you and lots of love and hugs!!

I myself have no experience with clomid or fertility testing, however there are various ladies around here who have. I do hope they'll respond to you soon and might be able to give you a bit more advise. Good luck to you, and I hope you get your positive soon!! :)
