Im being induced Wednesday and they said they will start with a catheter to ripen my cervix. Has anyone had this done. Does it hurt?

When a foley is used in induction, it's inserted into the vagina and there's a balloon on the end of the catheter that is inflated to help dilate the cervix...it's not being used for the urinary tract.

Cath is uncomfy for a few seconds only.because its foreign to ur body. Have u ever had to be straight cathed? Foley doesnt hurt half as bad. with a foley, they inflate a "balloon" so it doesnt come out. But, make sure u do not strain when its in. Pushing a cath out is extremely painful. They will deflate it to get it out.
