False positive test results

Me and my boyfriend started having sex n May. I had got tested soon after we  started having sex n may got the results back m they were neg. everything was fine but I had a uti. Which had been common I was life guarding. Neither one of us have had sex with anyone since we started. I'm 11 weeks pregnant and I went to the doctor on wednesday everything was fine got to hear the heart beat n everything :) but this morning I got a call saying I had an uti and i just had the nurse transfer my prisciption to my pharmacy. Then 2 oclock rolls around and I got another call from the nurse saying I tested positive for chlamydia. This was a compleat shock I had had no symptoms n either did my boyfriend. So I was angers n called him yelling saying he cheated but he got mad and acussed me of cheating. I honestly don't think he cheated and I didn't. None of this makes any sense. So I was reading online and I read of false positive results are comin for pregnant women? I don't know what to think but I'm going to take the pills just so I can make sure my baby is fine but I just want done answers so me and my boyfriend aren't fighting... He's going to get tested tomorrow and I told him no matter what positive or negative to tell them I came back positive to get treated either way... I'm scared n so confused

Well the less you have to use the better. If there is no infection, it's safer to NOT take them. I personally would have asked for a retest to see if you actually did have it.

I was just thinking that it was probably best to get retested for yourself in the fact that whatever you take gets passed on to your baby. So if there is really no need to take medications then you shouldn't take them.

His results came back negative. But he's going to be treated either way. This is very weird

Chlamydia is what they call a silent std…most people don't know that they have it when they do…but I'm sure that the pregnancy had something to do with your results.
Good Luck and hope everything works out for the better :)

I've already started the medication bc I don't want anything to happen to my baby my boyfriend is getting tested today but again I want him to be treated either way. I was also thinking that maybe I had it before but had a false negative n may but neither one of us have symptoms.. Just we're both fighting and this isn't helping with the baby bc were both already stressed out

Hey there, its very possible its a false positive. I had one when I was pregnant with my son. They called me on a Monday saying I had it, my bf flipped! Then on Wednesday and Friday that week I was tested again and came back negative both times. And to be on the safe side my bf was tested aswell and his came back negative.

Best wishes to you!

I've actually heard of false positives for chlamydia too! I think I heard it from my midwife actually.
Will your doctor test you again? Has your boyfriend been tested?

OMG. THAT'S CRAZY. I WAS TESTED IN MARCH AT MY LAST PAP SMEAR, AND ALL CAME BACK NEGATIVE. BUT I WENT FOR MY 12WK APPOINTMENT YESTERDAY AND HE WANTED TO DO ANOTHER CULTURE SINCE IT'S BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS, JUST FOR PRECAUTIONS. I SOOOOOOO HOPE NOTHING COMES BACK POSITIVE. I KNOW FOR A FACT MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE ONLY SLEPT WITH EACH OTHER. THAT WOULD BE DEVASTATING AND SUPER HARD TO EXPLAIN. SORRY THAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH THIS. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.
