Not sure what to think

I have PCOS.  On October 17th, my doctor started me on Metformin to try to make me ovulate on my own.  (If I don't then he'll add Clomid the end of January). He told me to wait a couple weeks and I didn't get my period, take progesterone to give me my period.  On November 10th I started the progesterone and got my period on November 18th until November 22nd.  Then on Monday, December 3rd I had really light (no tampon or liner needed) pink, sometimes brown, spotting/bleeding.  This lasted until the afternoon of Wednesday, December 5th.  It just stopped as fast as it started.  Since I don't know if I ovulated, or when my next period would come, I don't know what to think of this.  Could this be implantation bleeding?   Or could it just be a period, but wasn't heavy at all since my period started just 16 days earlier?  I took a pregnancy test Sunday, December 9th, and it was negative.  I am not sure if that was too early to test.  If it was not implantation, then i am hoping that it was my period trying to come on, which means there was a good chance i ovulated on my own with the Metformin.  Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Pcos can be caused by extra insulin. I have pcos and had to take metformin for the insulin problem. Just wait until after Xmas and test again.
