kinda OT: tubes tied or essure procedure

ok.  My husband & I agree that this is our last child.  I am almost 36 weeks pregnant.  I have a PLANNED c-section for June 2nd.

About 2 monts ago I signed consent to have my tubes tied.  The doc will remove 2 inches & then burn the ends immediately following my c- section.  He said it will only take about an extra 5 min or so.

I have also been given some info on a procedure called essure, where they go in through the vagina (about 6-8 weeks after delivery)  and scar the tubes, permanently blocking them.

I am CERTAIN that I want a permanent procedure done.  I did however love being on birth control pills ( great skin & shorter peroids) I am 34 yr old & i don't think it is so healthy to be on them forever....

I was wondering what kind of experiences any women have had having tubes tied ( with or without having a c-section)

Has anyone out there had the essure done???  I guess this is the wrong place to post this, but what have you ladies learned on all this???  any rumors or friend have anything like this?

oh, my husband has different insurance that does not pay for a vasectomy.  my insurance will pay for permanent birth control.  That is why I'm the one going under the knife.

I had the essure done in 2006 and going through the procedure was fine granted my essure was done faulty and has failed twice one in 2009 when I had my daughter and now I am pregnant with number four due in August. I figure if are already having a planned c section then why have it done while u are on the table instead of having to go through another procedure.  That is the way I see it but if u choose the essure it was an easy thing to go trough. For me I am going to have my tube that isn't scarred tied off after having thid baby
