My personal thoughts on IUD are that it CAN make it harder to conceive. Depending on which kind you had you may face challenges conceiving... and you may NOT! Your best bet is to go see your doctor and tell them you're TTC.
I had the Mirena IUD for almost 4 years. I got it removed at the end of last december and starter to TTC con february 08 (wanted to let my body re-adjust). I got my BFP on April, so it only toook me one cycle! Every body is different. I agree with Joy, you should talk to your Dr first.
Good luck!
the IUD is supposed to stop working almost immediately after its removed unlike other birth control methods that can take weeks or months.
I did a quick Google search and came up with quite a few websites! EAnthes is correct when she said that it should be immediate that the hormones stop. Here is what I found on one website:
Most data suggests that a woman regains fertility immediately after the removal of IUD. Some claim that pregnancy is possible after one month after the removal of this device from the uterus. Women should be aware that there are certain differences between a copper and hormonal IUD and should discuss all the pros and cons with the doctor prior to insertion of this contraceptive device into the uterus.
Most studies suggest that generally women are able to regain fertility after the removal of IUD after the same period of time, compared to other birth control methods .
thanks JoyRenee ans EAthens for ur response that really helped me a lot .
