I also wanted to add...
The number of cases of listeriosis in pregnant women is about 17%. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics during pregnancy. These antibiotics, in most cases, will prevent infection to the fetus and newborn. These same antibiotics are also given to newborns with listeriosis.

This Is what I came across on......
It's not safe to eat precooked meats such as deli meats, hot dogs, and pâté when you're pregnant unless they're heated until steaming hot. Pregnant women are about 20 times more likely than other healthy adults to get listeriosis, and newborns – not moms – suffer the most serious effects of infection during pregnancy. Listeria can cross the placental barrier or, more commonly, be transmitted in the birth canal, and it can be devastating for the baby. Contamination may result from improper handling, or the bacteria may already be present in the meat. But whatever the reason, unlike other bacteria, listeria grows well at refrigerator temperatures.......

But honestly, I ate plenty of sandwiches during pregnancy and I am juss fine as well as my baby. I'm 22+1. But I get the all natural real beef, turkey, ham, etc. and I stay away from Subway 'cuz I've gotten food poisoning from there once (before pregnancy). But It's better to be safe than sorry, juss wanted to let you know your not the only one!

I am 24 with a 3 yr old, 2 yr old and 3 week old. And they are all healthy, with my last pregnancy sandwiches were one of my favorite things to eat, I have never heard that lunch meat was bad, just stay away from soda, energy drinks, caffeine, and remember to take your vitamins. Your going to be a great mom!

as a precaution they tell you to heat the lunchmeat and hot dogs until they steam. They both have a chance if carrying listeria, a bacteria that can harm the baby. so, by heating it, it kills the bacteria. you'll be fine! ;)
