Anna0589 that is a really good question but to be honest you wld have to just apply and see what you are eligible for bc now a days qualifications for help is so different and every case is different..it also depends on if where u live if they have funds available to give u extra help or not that goes for any type of assistance....so just check and see better to know than not to know if u don't try.

How long are you taking off? If you are in the uk, I'm taking 9months off and I get paid for all of it. If you chose to take more than 9months, which you can, you don't get paid for anything once 9months is up. Not sure if my pay will be a consistent amount throughout the 9 months but I don't go without something
