what is a mucus plug? when do I expect this mucus plug? what Is it like????

With my first i lost it over a week. I started around 36 weeks losing it. Its usually stringy and looks like mucous. With mine i couldnt mistake it. It was very different from my other discharge.

It literally looks like a big piece of snot out of your lady bits. It can come at once with bloody show or in pieces. I lost part of mine & it grows back. It's a barrier in your cervix. Most women don't loose it ( if at all I know some who never did) until right before labor starts. Others can loose it slowly
