possible episiotomy rip/tear?

i had my child in 2006 and i had a episiotomy. i went back for my check up and the doctor had said one of the stitches had either not healed or came apart (i cant remember now). well it never really healed. i would bleed at times after sex and it is very painful. it got to where i wasn't interested in sex anymore because of the pain that would follow. so my husband and i started using lube and it seemed to help the pain. now two in a half years later i wake up one morning to find that it feels like it has tore open.there was a good amount of blood when i first wiped. i hadn't had sex in like two days before so i don't understand what is going on. now i cant even wipe without it feeling like its pulling! is this ok? i don't wanna rush to the doctor and it be nothing but yet at the same time im concerned that if it did re-open and i don't check it out i risk possible infection right? if it is torn what do they do to fix it?

Its not normal for you to hurt and its not normal for it to get worse or to effect your sex life.  Definitely see your doctor.  I know its scary but ultimately, they are there to help you and find a solution for you where you dont have to suffer with this.

Have you looked in the mirror to see what the tear looks like, or how bad it is? Irregardless,  it sounds like you should go to the doctor to get this taken care of - you may need some stitches and yes, you could be prone to infection if it did reopen and isnt treated.  Ouch!

I would make an appointment to see the doctor...I'm not sure what they could do but this sounds like it is best left to a doctor...good luck!
