Bleeding and cramping in pregnancy doesnt always indicate a Miscarriage, But DOES ALWAYS need to be assessed by a medical professional. I had bleeding at 8 weeks with this pregnancy that I concieved the SAME WEEK as I had my miscarriage and they were both the same amount of  pain. With this bleed, I layed down with my feet elevated with a pillow EVEN in bed as well, this helps stem the flow (I couldnt get to the docs or hosp at the time I had my bleed and had to wait untill the next day,) but it stopped my bleeding.
I suggest you go to ER!

I just reviewed your post...  I realized you said 4 weeks LATE.  That would make you 8 weeks pregnant.  They could DEFINATELY see what is going on by ultrasound.  You should go.  Also at 8 weeks, if you are having a miscarriage, it could be VERY painful.
I still suggest a doctor.

hmmm.  it could go either way.  Cramping is normal during early pregnancy.  Bleeding can be common too....  If it is very painful, I would say it is very possible for this to be a miscarriage.  Hoeever, one persons idea of painful is diffrent from anothers.  Exactly what is considered normal cramping pain & what is miscarriage Cramping pain.  At 4 wks it could be very hard to tell the difference.

All that being said, I think you need to call a doctor.  Is it a lot of bleeding?  You may need your blood levels checked to see if they are still rising, instead of dropping.  Maybe if it isn't too uncomfortable for you, they can do a vaginal ultrasound to see what is going on.  Sorry.  only a doctor can say for sure.  I have heard of this going both ways.

best wishes.

Is the bleeding a bright red colour or is it similar to what a period would look like? Usually cramping and bleeding are a sign of a miscarriage, but not always.
