quit smoking?

I found out I was pregnant on October 17th with a home test, I went to the dr on October 20th and had a blood test done just to be sure that the home test was right. I smoked my last cigarette on October 21st after the dr called and said yes I'm definitely pregnant. I haven't had another cigarette since but my bf smokes and i eyeball his pack almost every day thinking about taking          one out and being sneaky...but so far I've resisted. I don't want to go back to smoking after the baby, what is the success rate of staying a quitter? Everyone I've known, either have a few smokes during their pregnancy to calm stress or quit just long enough to have the baby and picked up right where they left off.

Thank you everyone! I just remind myself that I don't want my baby girl to smell like cigarettes or smell them on my breath when I give her kisses. It's hard though with my bf still smoking, I keep on him about quitting for our daughter but I don't think he wants to because he hasn't even made any effort  to quit, it's really sickening and annoying!

I quit smoking the day after i found out too. I was a smoker for 5 years until september when i found out i having a baby. To me its all in the mind, and you have to be strong and know that you dont need it , its bad for you and your baby. My husband helped me get thru it , my baby my family is too important to me than a cigarette. Just remind yourself that your strong , you dont need it, its all in the mind. Whats in the heart is what matters.

I quit with my last pregnancy and never started back up. During my last pregnancy it literally made me sick to smoke one so it was easier for me but once I had the baby...and I mean seriously like an hour after delivery I was craving a cigarette like I never even quit! But by the time I left the hospital that was over with...it is possible if you put your mind to it! Just stay strong and think of those little baby lungs!

The women I know went right back to it after the baby. I think if you WANT to stay a quitter, you can do it. Stay determined and remember, just because you're no longer pregnant, doesn't mean your baby won't benefit from having a healthier mommy! Stay strong, girl!
