I would suggest finding another doctor that will comply with your request. I think you are more concerned about the possiblity of being pregnant without sufficient care than the fact that there is no period. I could be wrong but there are plenty of people who consistently get negatives while pregnant. It seems ridiculous that your doctor would refuse to order blood test that you are requesting done.
Thanks for the advice. :) I don't have the mirena, I have the one with no hormones. And I've never missed a period, ever. Didn't even spot b/w periods. In fact, I was pregnant a few years ago and lost the baby at 4 and a half months. Even during the pregnancy I still got my period regularly. (Dr said some women do that even while preg) so, its just freakin me out since its been so long. I'm supposed to get the iud out on the 25th, so hopefully that will clear up some of my worries. I tried to tell them to take a blood test and she kept telling me no, that they won't do it unless its inconclusive or positive and can't find it on an ultrasound.
With IUD's your periods can become irregular and eventually even stop. If you ate 2 months late and you have gotten negative test results, it's unlikely that you are pregnant. Even ectopic pregnancies will show up positive on a hpt. I'm not sure which IUD you have but I had a Mirena and after 2 years of irregular bleeding, spotting, and cramping, I decided to have it removed. Maybe having the IUD removed would solve your problems? If you are worried about a possible pregnancy, I would request a blood test to check beta HCG. If they say no, tell them you insist!! Good luck!
is it possible to demand an ultrasound?
