Thank you for your replies. They have eased my mind about c sections
oh and you're recommended not to lift anything heavier than your baby for 6 weeks at least, clean your incision daily and make sure its dried properly and aired for ten mins twice a day to prevent infection x
you're not classed as being full term until you are 37 weeks. most planned c sections are carried out at 39 weeks - this is because your due date is an estimate and can go two weeks either side of the date you were given. and if its a section it won't really matter that babes is measuring big. i was two days away from being 42 weeks before getting induced, ended up with an emergency section due to complications. the cut now is generally a horizontal cut following your bikini line, mine is about 5-6 inches. they put dissolveable stitches inside as they obviously can't remove them manually, and it depends on your surgeon how they cl aose the outside cut up - some do dissolveable stitches, some do ster.h strips, i had staples which were taken out 4 days after my section. x
No of course they suture it inside, they go layer by later. You don't see the sutures on the outside they dissolve. But some women yes get staples which are usually removed before you go home. But I had steri strips also placed on the outside to help heal quicker, still took about 5-6 weeks
No my "healing" time is still 6-8 weeks if that's what you mean.. its been about 2 weeks and I only take a ibuprofen 800mg once a day for pain now. At first I was on percasets
Does that make the healing time quicker?
I didn't have stitches. They put something on the inside that disolves on its own, I forgot the name of it.
I'm just not looking forward to removing the steri strips a week after :-/ eek it's the oddest feeling ever. Luckily my husband is a medic and knows how to do everything with out hurting me
I'm currently only 35 weeks but baby is measuring nearly 39 weeks. So they are talking of inducing and talking about the best way to get the baby out. Thank you for your replies! They are muh appreciated!
Mine is only a few inches long, they cut you then open it and stretch the muscles move organs etc to do what they need to do. You don't even see it its so low, I'm having my 3rd and final one in 6 weeks and they are cutting the same scar from the other two
How big are the c section cuts now? When my mum had me hers went from side to side of her pelvic area are they still that big or smaller now and they stretch it open?
They probably won't induce you, I wasn't induced till 42 weeks and I hated the pitocin drip. I labored for 33 hours and ended in an emergency c section , I won't lie that was a rough recovery cause my body was just so exhausted. With my second I planned my c sec and it was a breeze, as soon as the spinal wore off I wanted to walk to get the catheter out & relive the gas pains in my shoulders. I was of course sore but only took Tylonel for like a week then that was it,
I loved my csection but I never been in real labor so I can't really compare. Recovery is different for everyone. I was up and walking the next day, my sister however took like 2-3 days.
They are talking of inducing me early I'm just not sure how early. I'm a ftm to,
And I feel off today nauseous headache just funny feeling. Should I be worried?
They probably wont induce early... at 36 weeks I was measuring 41cm and my doctor told me that she'll be a healthy size. At my last appointment I was 38 measuring at 48cm and still nothing... Unless there is something wrong they wont induce... and I've never had a c-section.. I'm a ftm. :D
A c section is a breeze I just had one a month ago. The cut isn't too big doesn't cover the entire tummy. They don't want you to do any lifting heavier then baby for 6 to 8 weeks. The first two days it was hard to get around and the week after that I was sore but it was bearable. Now I don't feel like it ever happened!
