I also suggest using a bunch of pillows so that you can be propped up! That way you can still lay on your back. I also hurt laying on my sides, so I tend to have a body pillow under one side to keep me from laying flat on my back, so I'm sort of on my side but I don't feel uncomfortable. :-)

I try and sleep on my side with a pillow be tweet my knees and ankles. I also place a blanket rolled up behind me so if I do roll to my back I am not totally flat on my back ( the blanket keeps me slightly on my side like a little prop/wedge )

As long as you prop yourself up its OK. Otherwise they wouldn't make you lay on your back during exams and ultrasounds.

I guess my first comment was deleted. Hmm I worried a lot but I'm now 35 weeks and my little man is fine. Prop yourself up with 2 or 3 pillows.

My sides I was a belly sleeper until I started getting uncomfortable now I can't imagine trying to sleep on my belly. I prefer my right side with a pillow between my legs.

You should try not to because it can restrict blood flow but your baby will make you uncomfortable so you ll move if it bothers the baby to much
