stupid government

I think its stupid that if your under 22 and still live with your parents you cant get food stamps unless they are on the case with you. Its not fair in my mind. Especially when your parents cant keep food in the house and you have to go buy food for EVERYONE. I think it is wrong beyond anything. The good thing that just came out of this interview is that I get Medicaid :)

It does suck coming from a person who has been denied four times!! I work as well as have a good eduction but sometimes it's not enough...I had to get creative this time just so that I could get Medicaid and even a letter saying I'm close to receiving food stamps, it's messed up but it's I had to do what I needed for my child to get insured as well as have enough food in my house. And for those who aren't married but are old enough to get food stamps and Medicaid you do not have to add you bf/fiancé to the application that way you will be able to qualify for something even if it's $100 a month I groceries! Good luck ladies

My best advice to young women is to work on a solid education and job training so that you will not need assistance.  Then you are never dependent on parents, boyfriends/husbands and government.  I can't say enough about the freedom a good education/job training will give you and there are all sorts of grants to help for the expense of it with the goal that you would ultimately not ever need food stamps or medicaid.  I'd take advantage of this period in your life to gets as much training done so that you are set up in the future.  good luck

I qualify for pregnancy medicaid,  but not food stamps.  Only my hubby works too. Completely no sense whatsoever!

Ugh it just pisses me off. I really just wanted to yell and scream at the women, even though it was over the phone, but I kept my cool

Same here! I'm 19 living with my fiancé but since I'm in school and technically don't have a kid yet somehow I don't qualify.
