High risk pregnancy

I live in Kodiak, Alaska and the facilities here can't accomidate certain pregnancy's because of its small community. I found out i am pregnant and my last pregnancy was high risk i was rushed back and forth to larger facilities because of the pregnancy. I have very low fluid, 4 months straight of morning sickness which i sent 1 1/2 weeks in the hospital due to drastic weight loss im went from 125lbs to 90lbs in less than a week i was on fluids to get me back up to par, After i got over that i was on strickt bed rest for 5 months where my bracston hicks put me in the hospital once a week and all the doctors would swear up and down and side ways that i was going to have my baby. My husband and I were also told we would have to choose between having the baby survive or myself. Im worried if kodiak's hospital couldn't accomidate my pregnancy.. they don't have ob/gyn all the docs on the island is family practice.

I soooo feel your pain..

I live on an island, and there is NO Ob/Gyn here either. I see a General Practioner as well.. It is a bit worrisome honestly. I can't afford to go to the mainland, rent a hotel, and/or fly back and forth for appointments (or boat), plus when I go into labor, it is just NOT a practical "option."

I have been diagnosed w/ placenta previa, and am also worried about my pregnancy becoming high risk (b/c they just aren't really equipped for anything going wrong here!).. BUT, I am trying to remain optimistic and am just doing what the GP tells me.. I am guessing that (G_dforbid) anything goes wrong, you would be medivac'd to the nearest larger facility?. That is what they do here. If something bad happens, I know I will be medivac'd to Boston.. I am hoping not b.c I HATE to fly, but I am just taking it one day at a time. I wish I had better advice, but I wanted you to know you aren't all alone in feeling like you can't get the care you need! =)

((Hugs!))

Every pregnancy is different. Maybe you should try to be optimistic and see how the begining of the pregnancy goes, you may not have any problems. Then if you develop any, is there a relative you can stay with near a better hosptial?

sounds like you should go and stay near a bigger hospital, just to be safe.  you are obviously concerned and stressed and this will not help. go and stay near a bigger hospital if htis is possible i would i would want to be protected in case.
