Yeah that just means they are fraternal twins, i have twin brothers and they were in two different sacs and had two placenta's. Fraternal twins are two eggs that were fertilized at the same time and identical twins are one egg that was fertilized but split and have the same sac and everything
I would like to correct Olive13. You can have Identical twins of different sex if they share the same placenta. It's not very common but it has happened.
I however believe if one egg split into twin babies the sex is the same, and if 2 eggs were released and fertilized you can either have the same sex or different sex.
If twins share a placenta then they are identical and thus the same sex. If there are two placentas you could have one of three combinations: 2 boys, 2 girls or one of each gender.
no, they could be the same sex or different. i had twins with their own sacs (their placentas fused together over the 34 weeks) and both are boys. my brothers are fraternal twins...separate everything...both boys. my cousins are fraternal twins..both girls.
That means that they CAN be different but they don't have to be. It just means they aren't identical.
