whats normal

I'm between 4-6 weeks pregnant. I started having light pink spotting two days ago. It stopped and then started again yesterday. It is now red and heavier. I also started cramping last night, and have passed a few small clots. My first Ob appnt isn't until Monday and I can't get clear answers from the nurse in the office. They did blood work, but I won't know results until Monday. They did say two nights ago when I went to ST that my hcg levels were that of someone 4 wks along. Is it normal to have bleeding and cramping?

I agree with Clysta you need a second beta test to see if your numbers are increasing..And you can do it at the ER today..

I have been in this situation before..
I'm going to be honest with you, pink or red bleeding normally isn't good,I don't want to scare you or assume that something wrong is happening..No..I just wanna be honest with you,if I were you I would go to the ER in case you have
period flow like and cramping is increasing and keep passing clots, don't wait until Monday, hope it's nothing bad and it all stops.Best of luck to you.Keep in touch.

I don't want to scare you but your case sound familiar to my first pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage...the heavy bleeding and passing clots aren't normal and are signs of miscarriage...

How heavy is the bleeding? Is it similar to a period flow, or heavier? What type of cramping are you having as well? Is it mild twinges, or more severe. It's not normal to have cramping and bleeding, however it is not uncommon. When you do, it really could go either way. There are some who bleed severely for weeks on end while pregnant and deliver healthy babies while some spot and miscarry. You need to have a second blood test done, as one alone won't give clear answers. It will show if your levels are rising or dropping, and that will tell you if the pregnancy is viable or not. Dropping levels as well as cramping/bleeding would be an indicator of miscarriage, while rising levels can mean something else might be going on.
