With my first kid i got it at 3cm and i plan on doing it again this time
Depending on the hospital depends when they will allow you to get the epidural. With my first I was only 2cm but had been being induced for 10 hours already and couldn't handle it. My second I was 4 cm and my third I had an all natural water birth. Third was by far the best experience and shortest labor
When i went into labour with my first i went to the hospital i was already 6cm dilated and they said i was too far gone for the epidural o:
When its so intense you can't stand it anymore. It takes 20 minutes to work so plan ahead. Remember, once on the epi, you are confined to the bed. Your legs become numb, but the pain will be bearable.
Make sure they check you right before they give it to you if you decide to get it.
I got to the hospital and they told me i was 4 cm. After a couple hours i broke down and decided i wanted the epidural. It took almost an hour for the Girl to get there and give me the epidural. Before it even kicked in they checked me and i was 10cm. They shouldn't have given me an epidural without checking again first. By the time the epidural was working i was already done having my daughter. I gave bad back pain where the injection was given. And a $800 bill just for the epidural after insurance. I think it was not even worth it. My next kid will definitely not be with an epidural.
I got mine at 8cm as soon I laid down I had to start pushing BC there was so much pressure they didn't check me before hand just gave it so make sure you ask to be checked. they messed the injection up had to do it twice and I dealt with headaches and back aches for 3.5 months after if I would have known I was 8cm no way I would have gotten it
At the hospital I delivered at they don't give you a time limit for the epi. And they give you a button to push when it starts to wear off to give you a boost of pain meds. I got mine at 8cm. Labor pains weren't bad I just had a bit of a mental breakdown thinking he was too big and I would tear and didn't wanna feel it. Which he was huge. I'm happy with the choice I made. But be prepared for them to mess up because the first one didn't work, I had to have two epidurals and I have pretty bad pain now and back spasms.
It depends on you and your labor pattern. I'd say a minimum of five or six cm. But personally I would never get an epidural! I've had two pain med free births and then a spinal block (similar to epidural) for a surgery after my last birth. I gave birth just over a week ago and I feel great everywhere... except at my injection site for my spinal. I'm having back pain like crazy! I hated the feeling of it and I swear, never again!
So I will probably get mines around 6 or 7 cm :) thank you ladies!!
I got mine between 6-7 it worked perfectly cause i felt enough to push but not enough to feel pain! (:
I got mine at 7cm with my first and 4cm with my second. I say go as long as you can without it
Or just let one of the nurses know and they will do something to make it better :)
I got mines at 5 and if you feel it start to wear off there's a button you can push to keep pumping medicine through the iv
They let you get it at 4cm.
I got mine at 5cm
Lol I need to know this as well , I will be delivering in about 2 weeks & I'm really scared , especially being my first baby !
