A visit to your doctor would be in order. If the swelling that you described in the first post really involves the scrotum then you may need to consider another diagnosis. The inflammation may involve the testis and related organs. The antibiotics however, would be similar, so there should be some improvement already. The re-evaluation by the doctor would help to see if a correctable cause of the symptoms (this generally means surgery) is available.
Alternatively, it is possible that you are getting frequent relapses. If this is the primary consideration, the evaluation using culture studies of prostatic fluid/urine would be important, in order to provide the best treatment options for you.
I still have prostatitis and have been all antiboitics and some twice, I'm on Doxycycline now...help
Hi,
Treatment for prostatitis can take several weeks to months. If the symptoms appear to improve transiently with the antibiotics only, then the problem may be that the bacterial burden is mixed, with some more sensitive to antibiotics than the others. In this situation you may need multiple antibiotics at once. That would also be a good idea is to take a sample and perform a culture with antibiotic sensitivity. This would allow a better selection of drugs to use and hopefully , better eradication of the bacteria and your problem.
